Why we are here
A private university built on access, now investing in research that reaches people
Founded in Dhaka to widen access to higher education, WUB has approved a five-year Research Policy and a ring-fenced Research and Innovation Fund aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals. ASBC2026 is where we bring that work to the region.
Twenty papers, four tracks
Every WUB paper is SDG-tagged, names the non-academic user of its findings, and is routed to an indexed journal after the conference. At least a quarter address the under-served goals — SDG 1, 5, 16 and 17.
Open to ASEAN collaboration
We are seeking co-authors, doctoral co-supervisors and joint proposals. Our new Fund includes a Partnership Development window designed to co-finance work with overseas universities and social-business organisations.

The Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 place WUB 50th in the world for Quality Education — evidence that inclusive education at scale is our strongest contribution to the conference theme.

“Universities as Social Businesses: Building Inclusive Prosperity from Dhaka to the ASEAN Region”
Drawing on the founding of a private university in Bangladesh dedicated to access and employability, the keynote sets out how a university can operate as a social business — reinvesting in students, communities and research — and invites ASEAN partners to co-research the goals where the region's evidence base is thinnest.

Co-funded partnership grants
WUB's Research and Innovation Fund reserves a Partnership Development window for collaborations with overseas universities and social-business organisations, with a matching reserve for external bids.
Doctoral pathways
Co-supervision and staff placements
We are expanding MoU-based doctoral routes for WUB academics with partner universities in Malaysia and the region, and welcome co-supervision arrangements.
Mobility
Academic and industry exchange
Our University–Industry Collaboration Policy adopts the Malaysian CEO @ Faculty and 2u2i models; we are looking for partners to pilot two-way placements.
