The Department of English, World University of Bangladesh organized a day-long Freshers’ Reception and Farewell Program on 8 February 2023, Wednesday on WUB campus premises. The program was phased in two sessions. The formal program has been inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam. Md. Nurullah Patwary, Assistant Professor of the Department of English presented the welcome speech. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and the Head of the Department of Law, Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, The head of the Department of EEE, Dr. Mohammad Quamruzzaman were present in the program and presented their valuable speeches. The Head of the Department of Architecture Zenat Islam, the former Head of the Department of English, Nurun Nahar were also present among other guests. The Head of the Department of English, Md. Nasim Fardose chaired the session. Sarah Tabassum and Humayra Akhter, Lecturers of the Department of English hosted the program.

In the evening session, a one-hour cultural program was held by the students of the Department of English. Mohua Akhi and Ahsan Hossain Akash- students from the same department hosted the program. Music, poems, dance and drama were performed by the students of the department. Two bands of music named ‘Mayer Dowa’ and ‘Apon Ghor’ made the program really enjoyable by their stunning musical presentation. Precisely, it was a gala day for the freshers and remarkable event for the graduating students.

The key purpose of the program was to give reception to the students enrolled in Spring 2023 and to bid farewell to the students who have passed out in recent trimester and to have a get together session for the alumni.
