About Orientation
‘Freshers’ Reception Fall Semester-2018’ of World University of Bangladesh was held on November 13, 2018 at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh Complex Auditorium, Khamar Bari, Farmgate, Dhaka. Soon after the program started at 4:00 pm the event turned into a colorful and festive mood. More than thousand freshers of different departments were present in the occasion.
Freshers were welcomed at the entrance with flowers. The ceremony was divided into two phases. Phase one was a discussion meeting. Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Honorable Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh presided over the discussion meeting. Dr. Tawfiq - e - Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikrom, Honorable Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources was present as the chief guest and Dr. Shamsul Alam, Member (Sr. Secretary) General Economic Division, Ministry of Planning, Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh; Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-VC; Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer; and Professor Dr. Musfiq M Choudhury, Chief Advisor, World University of Bangladesh were present as special guests. Professor Dr. Musfiq M Choudhury delivered the welcome speech. Four from the freshers expressed their feeling and glorified the academic atmosphere and university environment. The chief guest and the special guests encouraged the freshers to be diligent to make their life successful and worthy.
The second phase of the program was cultural events, which started with a magic show performed by Professor Dr. M. Abdus Samad, Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. The extra ordinary magic show satisfied the audience and kept the audience spellbound. Then the World University of Bangladesh cultural club staged beautiful recitation, dances, music, and comedy shows. At last the band music wrapped the audience vibrant at their utter satisfaction.
Key Speaker
The Chief Guest started his speech thanking everyone present in the orientation program. He said that the students of WUB are very lucky because they have two Vice-Chancellors. Besides the Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam who is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor of WUB, is also a former Vice-Chancellor. He asked to use this opportunity. He said that most of the famous universities in the world are private universities. So if everyone works together then this university shall be famous in future. He also urged the students to gather knowledge through internet.
Vice Chancellor Speech
Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor of WUB, began his speech thanking the Chief Guest and all the persons present in the orientation program. He recalled the contribution of the Chief Guest as well as of his own and his associates in the war of liberation. Speaking about the World University of Bangladesh, he said that in many matters such as introducing Mechatronics Engineering in WUB academic program in this South East Asia for the first time WUB has become pioneer. He said that he is a dream seller. He conveyed dreams to his colleagues and they dispense the dreams to others. Talking about the education system, he said that the Utilitarian Education is given in WUB, so graduates do not remain unemployed after the end of their graduation. He thanked the parents of the students for admitting their siblings in WUB.
