Purpose
The WUB Sustainability Cell is established to promote sustainable practices within the university campus, create awareness about environmental conservation, and implement policies for efficient use of resources, particularly electricity and water. It serves as a central body to coordinate green initiatives and sustainable programs.
Scope
- Overseeing energy efficiency and conservation programs.
- Reducing campus carbon footprint.
- Promoting environmental awareness among students, faculty, and staff.
- Coordinating with academic and administrative departments for sustainability activities.
- Monitoring and reporting progress of sustainability initiatives.
Policy Objectives
- Encourage energy-efficient practices across campus.
- Promote sustainable use of resources (electricity, water and materials).
- Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.
- Support green innovations and research projects.
- Ensure compliance with national and institutional sustainability guidelines.
Policy Implementation
- Regular campus audits for energy use.
- Organizing campaigns like "Awareness Programs on Electricity Saving."
- Collaboration with Student Clubs and academic departments for green projects.

Role & Responsibilities
Sustainability Officers are appointed from various departments and offices of WUB to support the Sustainability Cell. Their main responsibilities include:
- Monitoring Resource Use:
- Track electricity, water, and other resource consumption in their respective areas.
- Identify areas of wastage and suggest improvements.
- Awareness & Education:
- Educate faculty, staff, and students about energy-efficient practices.
- Conduct awareness sessions, workshops, and campaigns.
- Reporting & Feedback:
- Submit regular reports to the Sustainability Cell on progress and challenges.
- Provide feedback on implementing sustainability policies effectively.
- Project Implementation:
- Assist in the execution of campus-wide sustainability projects.
- Promote participation in initiatives like tree planting, recycling, and green campus events.
- Liaison Role:
- Act as a bridge between the Sustainability Cell and individual departments.
Key Activities
- Organizing seminars on electricity and energy conservation.
- Launching campaigns to reduce single-use plastics.
- Promoting paperless administrative processes.
- Monitoring and switching off unused lights and equipment.
