The two-day long "Pitha Utshab-2023" organized by the Cultural Club, World University of Bangladesh ended on February 03, 2023 at 05.00 pm. Vice Principal Dr. Abdus Shahid, MP, Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Estimated Accounts and former Chip Whip, Bangladesh National Parliament announced the end of the Pitha Utshab as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by the honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, while Prof. Dr. Mushfiq M. Chowdhury, Commissioner, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Morsheda Chowdhury, Treasurer, World University of Bangladesh were present as the special guests. Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh gave a welcome address.
Eminent media personality and agricultural development activist, Founder Director and News Head of Impress Telefilm Limited Mr. Shykh Seraj inaugurated the Pitha Utshav as the Chief Guest on 2nd February 2023 (Thursday) at 10.00 am. Every stall of the festival is decorated with Bahari names, native decorations and different types of Pithapuli. Students of different departments appeared in the festival with delicious pitha puli of various names. On these two days, the festival ground became joyful with the walk of students and visitors. Each stall is decorated with different names, native decorations and different types of Pitha. Students of different departments decorated the stalls with delicious pitha. Different types of pithas like Vapa, Puli, Patisapta, Dudhchitai, Nakshi Pitha, Golap Pitha, Malpoa, Jhalpuli, Rangbahari, Kheer Barfi, Tri-Veni, Rollpuli, Gudher Nadu, Jhal Bara, Raspakan, Kheer Patisapta, Pushpamanjuri, etc were available in the utshab.
At the closing ceremony at 5.00 pm, the Chief Guest presented the awards to the best organizers of the festival. He appreciated the initiative of Cultural Club of World University of Bangladesh and thanked all concerned for such a beautiful arrangement. He asked the students to be more involved in such events and also to be more focused on their studies.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Chowdhury mentioned Pitha Puli festival as a part of Bengali tradition in his speech and highlighted the sincerity and involvement of World University of Bangladesh in such an event. He reminded the students about the importance of education as well as various cultural events to develop the mindset of the students.
Professor Dr. Mushfiq M. Chowdhury emphasized on improving the skills of the students and asked them to be proficient in the subject they are studying. In this regard, he explained that only certificate holders are far behind in the workplace and the need for skills to succeed in their careers.
Among the 11 departmental stalls , Pharmacy Department's stall 'Poush Parbanan Mela' won the first prize, English Department's stall 'Sahithir Paush Parban' got the second prize and Law Department's stall 'Haichai Pitha Ghar' got the third prize. The Chief Guest and special guests presented trophies to the winners.
