Former Professor of Metallurgy of the Imperial College London and presently the Secretary General of the Association of the Commonwealth Universities, Professor John V Wood, PhD arrives in Dhaka on the 8^th of March 2017. He is to attend the convocation of 3179 graduates of the World University of Bangladesh, as Convocation Speaker.

Professor Wood is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and is currently a member of their Council and International Committee. He is also the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) and an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, he involved with a number of charities, including acting as chair of the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP).
