An online discussion event was held on 27th September, 2020 in the Department of Architecture, World University of Bangladesh. The discussion topic of the program was “Architecture: Challengers for the beginners”.  

Prominent architect Nurur Rahman Khan and Ar. Ahmed Imtiaz Khan contributed as speakers and Ar. Zenat Islam, Acting Head, Department of Architecture, World University of Bangladesh hosted the program. 

The challenges of the students when they started architecture education as well as when they started their profession focused on the discussion.

Ar. Nurur Rahman talked from his experience, when architecture started in Bangladesh what was the scenario. He also explained the challenges they had faced in the real field when people didn’t understand the necessity of Architects in Building construction. How they had learnt architecture and started their practice Ar. Nurur Rahman expressed his own life and experience. He also talked about the society of his time.

Ar. Ahmed Imtiaz Khan focused on the present situation. The scopes of architects are increasing day by day in Bangladesh as well as in the whole world. In this changing situation, architects should be passionate, and should be aware about their practice. 

In this spontaneous conversation, both architects emphasized on the professional attitude of the architects. From the very beginning of their career what should be the steps that were discussed widely.

Nowadays, the students have the scope to gather knowledge from the internet and other sources. So that it is easier to know what is happening in the whole world. Ar. Ahmed Imtiaz Khan suggested the students of architecture to update about recent trends of architecture. This is a vast field and students have scope to work abroad now, he also commented.

At the end of the program both architects attended the question answer session. Students of different universities and the practicing architects participated in this session. The program was open for all. In the thanksgiving session Ar. Zenat Islam commented that, this type of experience shearing is very much effective for the students as well as for the beginners.
