The Department of English, World University of Bangladesh
organized a seminar on “Ecopoetry Reading” on January 31st,
2023, in room no.302 at 2:30 pm. The seminar focused on the power of
ecopoetry to humanize environmental issues. Faculty members including
students were present at the seminar.
Ms. Sarah Tabassum, Lecturer, WUB, hosted the session with a
welcome speech. She shared the concept of ecopoetry and also introduced the
speakers to the audience. Mr. Faisal Ahmed, Senior Lecturer, Department of
English, WUB was the keynote speaker. He shared his view about how
ecopoetry can impact literature and the world around us. Mr. Saiful
Alam, Assistant Professor, Department of English, World University of
Bangladesh discussed encompassed concepts, theory, and implementation of
students’ activism for a safe ecology and natural environment through creative
writing on ecopoetry. The seminar concluded with a heartwarming poetry
recitation by Mr. AHM Ohiduzzaman, Lecturer, Department of English,
WUB.
The speakers presented slides highlighting the importance of
awareness of the destruction of the environment due to the intervention of
industrialization and pollution. The students enjoyed the session and gained
knowledge on the importance of ecopoetry reading.
The session was presided over by Md. Nasim Fardose Sajib, Head, Department
of English, WUB and highly appreciated the efforts of the presenters and the
participation of the students.
