The
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), World University of
Bangladesh recently organized an industrial tour to enhance students' practical
knowledge and provide them with valuable insights into real-world applications
of their field. The tour took place on May 28, 2023, and included visits to
Holcim Bangladesh Limited Cement Plant in Meghna, Ghat and Narayanganj
PalliBiddut Samity-1.
At
Holcim Bangladesh Limited Cement Plant, the participating students were exposed
to the intricate electrical systems involved in cement production. They had the
opportunity to observe the plant's advanced control systems, power distribution
networks, and automation technologies. The representatives from Holcim guided
the students through the various processes and explained how electrical
engineering plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of such
industrial facilities.
In
addition, the tour included a visit to Narayanganj PalliBiddut Samity-1, where
students got firsthand experience of the electrical infrastructure that
supports the local community. The representatives from the power distribution
authority shared valuable insights into the challenges and practices involved
in managing a large-scale power distribution network. The students witnessed
the distribution transformers, power substations, and other essential components
that contribute to the reliable supply of electricity to the residents of
Narayanganj.
The
industrial tour proved to be an enriching experience for the EEE students,
allowing them to witness the practical implementation of theoretical concepts
learned in their classrooms. It provided them with a deeper understanding of
the challenges and opportunities in the electrical engineering field and
highlighted the significance of sustainable energy practices.
