World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organized the Freshers Reception
program to welcome the newly admitted students of the Spring-2024 semester on
the WUB campus on 19 January 2024. Students from different departments took
part in the Freshers Reception program, says a press
release. The event witnessed the participation of
fresh minded enthusiastic students eager to embark on their educational journey
with the University.
Prof. Dr Mesbauddin Ahmed, Chairman, Bangladesh
Accreditation Council (BAC) was present as the Chief Guest in
the program while
Mr.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Editor, The Daily Observer &
Chairman, DBC News; and Prof.
Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor, World University of
Bangladesh were present
as special guests. Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer, World University
of Bangladesh gave the
welcome speech. The programme was chaired by Heroic
Freedom Fighter Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, honorable Vice
Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh.
The program was inaugurated by
the Chief Guest Prof. Dr Mesbauddin Ahmed at 09:00 am. He thanked the students
who participated in the event. The chief guest said to the new students,
"In this era of globalization, students should not only be educated in
traditional education but also soft skills along with hard skills. He gave
emphasis on creating positive attitudes in every walks of life.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul
Mannan Choudhury in the beginning of his speech thanked the Chief Guest for
coming to the event and highlighted various incidents that happened to him during
his career at Dhaka University to inspire the new students. He said “We have
been emphasizing on quality and utilitarian education since the beginning.
Because our aim is not only to produce graduates, but to produce real leaders.”
He advised the new students to prepare themselves for facing the challenges of
4IR.
The special guest Iqbal Sobhan
Chowdhury said, "You also have to play a role in building a smart
Bangladesh with the spirit of liberation war. I think World University will
play a helpful role in your journey. In order to achieve the goal of building a
smart Bangladesh, we need to be smart not only in clothes, but also in external
knowledge and skills.”
Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam
greeted the new students and highlighted the contribution of the modern
education system and teachers of World University of Bangladesh.
In the welcome speech, Treasurer
Morsheda Choudhury said that, you (students) should decide your life goals at
the beginning. If you can't fix it, we're here to help you. We have qualified
and experienced teachers. In addition to formal education, you should also try
to acquire knowledge & skills in other matters including activation.
Morsheda Chowdhury urged the new students to be educated in real education and
play a role in the welfare of the country and the nation.
A
cultural part of the programme was held, where WUB students were performed. University Registrar, Controller of
Examinations, Proctor, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty Members, Officials and the guardians of the students attended the programme.
