World University of Bangladesh Recognizes Distinguished Freedom Fighters on 22nd Foundation Day

March 02, 2024 - As part of its 22nd Foundation Day celebrations, the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) proudly declared the names of esteemed freedom fighters and valiant contributors to the nation's independence struggle. The recipients are Shahid Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni, a revered freedom fighter and chief of Mujib Bahini during the War of Liberation, Freedom Fighter Mr. Obaidul Quader, MP, the honorable Minister of Road and Highway, Freedom Fighter Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, MP, Hon'ble Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Md. Abdus Shahid, MP, Honorable Minister of Agriculture, and R. A. M. Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, MP, Honorable Minister of Housing and Public Works, Prof Dr. Pran Gopal Datta, MP, Advocate Mr. Munsurul Haq Chowdhury, Former Justice and Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury. They will be awarded the medal with a ceremony later on.

In addition to recognizing the valiant efforts of these heroes, the World University of Bangladesh published supplements and a souvenir featuring brief biographies of the honored freedom fighters. This gesture aims to immortalize their stories and inspire future generations with their bravery and resilience.

In the day long ceremony for the celebration of the foundation day, the Treasurer of World University of Bangladesh Morsheda Choudhury delivered the welcome speech. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor, and World University of Bangladesh and deans of faculties and Registrar of the university.

The ceremony was begin with plantation of sapling and concluded by lunch, raffle draw and cultural functions hosted by WUB students and Band Show by ChirKutt.

As many as 3500 students including the dignitaries and principals of nearby colleges attended the ceremony.
