Academic Exchange with the Delegation of University Malaya (UM)

A distinguished delegation from the University Malaya recently visited the World University of Bangladesh on March 5, 2024, as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen academic collaborations and foster international affiliations. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and exploring potential areas of cooperation.

The purpose of the visit was to explore collaborative opportunities, discuss joint research initiatives, and engage in dialogue with the faculty and administrative leaders. The delegation consisted of three members, including senior officials of Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), University Malaya, namely Dato' Prof. Ulung Dr. Rajah A/L Rasiah, Executive Director, Associate Prof. Dr. Roy Anthony Rogers A/L Peter Rogers, Deputy Executive Director (Internationalisation, Research, Value Creation & Enterprise) and Dr. Nurliana Binti Kamaruddin, Deputy Executive Director (Student Affairs).

The delegation participated in a series of engaging activities during their visit. Academic discussions were held with various academic units, including faculties of engineering, social sciences, and business. These discussions focused on potential research collaborations, joint publications, and student exchange programs. Professors from various departments engaged in lively discussions with their counterparts from the University Malaya, covering topics ranging from cutting-edge research to sustainable development goals.

The delegation had the honor of meeting the university’s leaders, including the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Deans. These courtesy calls emphasized mutual respect and goodwill.A positive aspect of the meeting was that both institutions expressed interest in formalizing their collaboration through aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU). The document will outline joint research projects, thesis supervision, faculty exchanges, and student mobility. Plans are also underway to organize a joint workshop on research & development, where faculty members from both universities will collaborate on this interdisciplinary event.

The visit from University Malaya was a significant milestone in the global engagement efforts of the World University of Bangladesh. It reaffirmed the commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing knowledge across borders. The World University of Bangladesh is looking forward to a productive and enduring collaboration with the University Malaya.
