On September 26, 2024, students
from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, World University of
Bangladesh, along with Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor and
Coordinator, attended a daylong seminar titled "Environmental
Sustainability in Tourism: The Responsibility of Police." The event was
organized by the Tourist Police Bangladesh and held at Tourist Police
Headquarters, Purana Paltan, Dhaka.
The seminar's inauguration was
graced by the presence of Inspector General of Police Md. Mainul Islam, NDC, as
the chief guest, while the closing session was featured Dr. Mokhles Ur Rahman,
Senior Secretary of Public Administration, as the chief guest. Md. Abu Kalam
Siddique, DIG (Acting Additional IGP) of the Tourist Police Bangladesh,
delivered the welcome speech.
Throughout the seminar,
distinguished guests shared their insights on the role of the Tourist Police in
promoting environmental sustainability within the tourism sector. Md. Abdul
Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Tourism
and Hospitality Management, emphasized the need to increase the number of
Tourist Police to ensure sustainability in tourism. He also expressed his
gratitude to the Tourist Police for their professional dedication and service
in the field.
