The utilization of nano-materials in technologies for
renewable energy and sustainability applications continues to represent an
important area of academic and commercial research. There are numerous
mechanisms by which the integration of nano-materials can improve device
performance. These include, for example, facilitation of increased harvesting
and conversion efficiencies, simplified and rapid manufacturing processes for
novel device architectures and improved energy storage properties. The
Department of Textile Engineering of World University of Bangladesh has
organized a seminar on “Emerging Nano-materials for Sustainable Energy
Efficiency Applications” on February 04, 2020. The key note Speaker was Dr.
Arifutzzaman Rahat, Research Fellow,
Research Center for Nano Materials and Energy Technology (RCNMET), School of
Science and Technology, Sunway University (SU), Malaysia. Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, honorable vice-chancellor, adorned
the chair of chief guest whereas Dr. SM Shirazi, Direcror, IQAC, WUB and Md.
Mizanur Rahman, Additional Director, IQAC, WUB were present as special guests.
Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering, presided
over the session.
The keynote speaker Mr. Rahat mainly emphasized on the
application of nano-material in perspective of sustainability in our textile
sector; he pin pointed some crucial factors which have an immense effect in bringing
value addition by developing application of nano-material. Other speakers opined
that there is no alternative to sustainable approach of all our activities as
we are passing through the Industrial 4.0 revolution.
