3rd CSE Festival Beginning

The 3rd 3-day CSE festival began in WUB with enthusiasm and excitement. The young and talented students are displaying their innovations of ICT and the main campus has been decorated colourfully for this purpose.

The festival began today (Thursday) at 10.00 am in the main campus in Dhanmondi with festive mood. The festival is inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Chowdury, VC of WUB. The Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. M. Kaikobad of CSE Department, BUET and Special Guest was Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, former President of Bangladesh Computer Society. The inaugural speech was given by Kazi Hasan Robin Assistant Prof. of the CSE Department of the university.

Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-VC and Prof. Dr. Musfiq M. Chowdhury, Education Adviser and Member of Board of Trustee highlighted the different aspects of the festival in their speech.

Ten universities and 15 colleges are participating with 200 students of ICT in different events in the festival. The festival will continue for 3 days and will be rounded up on 13 December 2014, Saturday. The media partner of this festival is Channel i.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. M. Kaykobad, CSE Department, BUET advised the students to be expert in ICT and said, "Students have to be productive in every section and for there is no substitute of ICT." He emphasised on a knowledge based society and said, "It is a time befitting festival of WUB."

The Chief Guest further said, "We have not reached our desired goad. Our students have talents, but we cannot nurture the talents. The young generations have to turn around for this matter. Our students are well in a small area though our universities are not doing well."

Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Chairperson of the festival said, "more than five thousand students have passed out from this university and none of them are unemployed. By this way the young talents are fulfilling the demand of the country. I believe that the young talents will also fulfill the demand of whole world. The student have to work in such a way that they can prove their ability as a worthy citizen of the country. To achieve this goal we are trying to encourage and inspire our young generation in WUB."

Mentioning the past and present scenario of the ICT Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, Special Guest of the festival and inventor of Bangla font BIJOY, said, "We did not know internet in 1996. And now 4.25 crore people are using internet. Around 8.5 crore people are using mobiles phone, around 80 universities of our country are teaching CSE. Work to make Bangladesh as Digital Bangladesh is going on. And the leader of Digital Bangladesh come out from young talented participants of WUB.

Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-VC of WUB said, "CSE Festival has now become a tradition of the university. It is now inspiring the students of the university. And we have to continue this process. Because computer did not come in a day in our country. We have to keep it up."

Prof. Dr. Musfiq M. Chowdhury, Education Adviser and Member of Trustee Board said, "This festival is a great opportunity for the students. Many talented and expert engineers have come out from the university who are now performing important roles in different sectors. The university will keep the tradition high to uphold the success."

In this 3rd ICT Festival, more than hundred students are participating in different events like 'IT Olympiad', 'Gaming Contest', 'IT Fair', 'Workshop and Seminar'.

Students of 15 colleges are taking part in debate competition and IT Olympiad, Gaming Competition is also there for game lovers. Expert ICT people will also take part in seminar and workshop. Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Education Secretary will be the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony on Saturday.
