On March 21, 2012 World University of Bangladesh organized WUB Gold Medal Award Ceremony for the fourth time at the main auditorium of National Museum. This year, the recipients of the gold medal were Language hero Abdul Matin and commander of the north-east sector of Mujib Bahini,eminent freedom-fighter and political leader Abdur Razzak and Lt. Col. Abu Osman Choudhury.

On the occasion, the chief guest was Mr Abul Kalam Azad, MP, hon'ble minister, Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Special guests were language hero Tofazzal Hossain and the hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University, Prof. Dr M Nurul Islam, The programme was presided over by the hon'ble Vice Chancellor of World Univeristy of Bangladesh, valiant freedom fighter and advisor of the National Freedom Fighters' Council, Prof. Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury. The hon'ble chairperson of the Board of Trustees of WUB, Morsheda Choudhury delivered the welcome speech. Language hero Abdul Matin and Lt. Col. Abu Osman Choudhury received the gold medals from the chief guest and the Vice Chancellor respectively. On behalf of Late Razzak, Mrs Farida Razzak and his two sons, Mr Nahim Razzak MP and Mr Fahim Razzak received the gold medal from the chairperson of Board of Trustees of WUB. The guests were honoured with mementos.

While expressing their feelings, the guests praised the intitiative of World University of Bangladesh to honour language heroes and freedom fighters consecutively.
