Shadow Parliament debate on ‘Opening Educational Institutions- Ensuring Health Protection’

'Debate for Democracy' organized a shadow parliament debate on "Opening Educational Institutions - Ensuring Health Protection’ at ATN Bangla BFDC Studio on 1st October 2021. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), was the chief guest. He said that by March next year, 80% of the country's population will be vaccinated. It will also cover 12 to 18-year-olds. Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran, speaker of the ‘Shadow Parliament’ and chairman of Debate for Democracy, made six-point recommendations about protection against Corona Pandemic. He said that 'antigen test' system shall be set up in educational institutions to ensure health protection. He suggested two doses of vaccine jab before opening of educational institutions. He proposed to keep separate public transports for students. He reiterated for rapid Corona testing and adequate Oximeter in all educational institutions. "The debate contestants (Nurul Afsar, Sahela Akhter Hridi and Abdullah bin Taslim) of 'World University of Bangladesh' defeated the debate team of 'East West University' and received trophies and certificates. Honorable Vice-Chancellor; Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Treasurer; Advisor of World University of Bangladesh congratulated and sent their best wishes to the winning team and special thanks to Mr. Ajoy Roy, moderator of the Debate Team. The panel judges in this debate competition were Professor Abu Muhammad Rais, Dr. SM Morshed, Journalist Zinnia Kabir Soochana, Falguni Rashid and Ataur Rahman Kabul.
