Civil Engineering Festival 2022
“Civil Engineering Festival 2022” has organized by the department of Civil Engineering of World University of Bangladesh which was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology as Chief Guest on 09 September 2022 while Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh; Md. Shafiqul Islam, Project Director, Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project; Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer, World University of Bangladesh; Dr. Musfiq Mannan Choudhury, Secretary, Board of Trustees, World University of Bangladesh and Professor AFM Abdur Rauf, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, World University of Bangladesh attended the fest as Special Guest. The fest has presided over by Professor Dr. SM Shirazi, CEng, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, World University of Bangladesh.
Md. Shafiqul Islam, Project Director, Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, described in his speech as special guest the challenges and the achievements of Padma Bridge Construction Project. He advised the students to be skilled as Civil Engineer for taking the responsibility of nation building activities.
Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, honorable Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh welcomed the guest of the organizing team to arrange a beautiful program in the campus. He expressed his gratitude for creating an opportunity for the students to return to their WUB family. VC sir advised the students to study in order to makeup the losses due to corona. Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury expressed his gratitude to the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibor Rahman for his inspiring advice to establish a university like World University of Bangladesh. He also expressed his condolence on the death of Queen Elizabeth oh UK and Dr. Akbar Ali Khan.
The Chief Guest Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, advised the students for hard work to be a well-educated responsible person of Bangladesh. He also distributed the prizes among the winners of the competition of three categories: academic, sports and cultural events.
New generation bangla rock band "Ashes" performed at the Fest. They performed some of their most popular song. There were also cultural performances by several groups of students from the department of Civil Engineering.
This festival after the pandemic, created a spirit for the alumni of students to move forward for accepting the challenges of 4th industrial Revolution (4RI).
