University Stands United in Support of Resilient Student's Recovery

In a heartwarming display of solidarity, the faculty and students of Civil Engineering department of World University of Bangladesh rallied behind Md. Roknuzzaman, affectionately known as Rico. A standout student from the 95C batch, Rico faced a challenging health ordeal during his 3rd semester. Diagnosed with severe kidney damage, he battled through treatments at the Kidney Foundation, Mirpur 2, with the university community stepping in to assist financially. An amount of 2,09,941.00 BDT raised was presented to his guardian in the presence of the faculties, students, and administrators of the World University of Bangladesh.

Despite ongoing struggles and dialysis sessions, Rico's condition deteriorated, leading to a critical moment when a kidney transplant became the only viable option. On November 13 at 3 pm, Rico's mother selflessly donated a kidney, and the successful operation took place. Both endured a challenging recovery period, with Rico leaving the ICU on the 27th. Now on the path to recovery, Rico will undergo further monitoring in the coming months. The family of Rico expressed gratitude to the university for the overwhelming support in the face of adversity.
