World University of Bangladesh Forges Global Partnership with University of Leeds to Advance Policy and Poverty Reduction

In a significant step towards influencing regional and global development policy, the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has formalized a strategic partnership with the India and South Asia Business Centre at the University of Leeds, UK, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 6th July 2024.

This collaboration establishes WUB as an active body in the transnational effort to shape and implement programmes that address the multi-dimensional aspects of poverty. The MoU signifies a commitment to joint research, knowledge exchange, and the development of evidence-based policies aimed at fostering sustainable economic development and educational excellence in the South Asian region. By partnering with a leading global institution, WUB positions itself to contribute directly to policy dialogues that tackle root causes of poverty, from economic inequality and lack of opportunity to educational access.

The signing ceremony, attended by senior leadership including Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar of WUB, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Faisal Ahammad from the University of Leeds, underscored the mutual dedication to creating a tangible societal impact. Through this alliance, WUB commits to generating research and insights that can inform policy at national and global levels, directly supporting the implementation of strategies to end poverty in all its forms.
