The Department of
Tourism and Hospitality Management at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB)
has officially introduced a Chinese language course into its academic
curriculum to strengthen students’ global competencies in a highly competitive
world.
The program is conducted by Dilshad Ara Raka,
a Chinese Language and Culture graduate with extensive teaching experience in
Bangladesh, offering students high-quality, practical language instruction.
The inaugural ceremony took place on September
16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Distinguished attendees included Professor Mohammad
Nasimul Azim, Head of the Department and Program Director, Department of
Tourism and Hospitality Management; Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor
and Academic Coordinator; Sara Murtoza, Lecturer, Department of Tourism and
Hospitality Management; and Nasrin Shamima, Senior Lecturer, Department of
Business Administration, WUB.
In his remarks, Professor Mohammad Nasimul
Azim encouraged students to seize this opportunity, emphasizing that mastering
global languages such as Chinese is essential for success in the international
tourism and hospitality sector. He also congratulated Dilshad Ara Raka and
expressed hope for her long-term involvement with the department.
Md. Abdul
Latif Mahmud announced that a Japanese language course will be launched next
semester, emphasizing that while English remains the medium of instruction,
learning additional foreign languages and new MoUs with top hotels in China
will strategically enhance students’ professional skills through paid
international internships.
The launch of the Chinese language course has
generated great enthusiasm among students, reflecting WUB’s commitment to
producing graduates with strong global language skills and cultural competence.
