He
completed his PhD. in Physics from Jahangirnagar University. Before that,
he completed his M.S. and B.Sc. (Honors)
in Physics from University of Chittagong.
Dr. Islam has more than 12 years of teaching experience in
different well-known colleges and university. "Dr. Islam served as an
Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Physics at Uttara University from
2023 to 2025, bringing over a decade of expertise to the role." His
research interests include environmental radioactivity, radiation detection,
gamma spectroscopy, radionuclide analysis, and nuclear analytical techniques.
His PhD. research focused on the
environmental toxicity of some waterfall areas in Bangladesh using the PIXE
(Particle Induced X-ray Emission) technique and gamma spectrometry. He has
also conducted research on the
radioactivity of medical waste produced from patients treated with 131I
and 99mTc at the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied
Sciences (NINMAS), BSMMU, Bangladesh. Under the Accelerator Facilities
Division of the AECD, Dr. Islam Utilizing the Van de Graaff accelerator
facilities at AECD, he applied the PIXE (Proton Induced X-ray Emission)
technique to study environmental toxicity. βWhile working in the Accelerator
Facilities Division of the AECD, Dr. Islam used the Van de Graaff accelerator
to apply the PIXE(Proton Induced X-ray Emission) technique in
environmental toxicity studies.β
Dr. Islam has published several research
papers in international journals. Through his teaching and research, he works
to promote the safe use of nuclear technology and to protect the environment
from radiation hazards.
