The Department of Tourism and Hospitality
Management, in collaboration with the WUB THM Club of the World University of
Bangladesh (WUB), successfully hosted "Fusion Flavors: Western Pastry Meets Local Traditions," a unique culinary event that seamlessly blended global
pastry techniques with local traditional flavors. The event took place on
February 13, 2025, at the WUB Tourism and Hospitality Management Lab.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor Mohammed
Nasimul Azim, Chairman and Director of the Department of Tourism and
Hospitality Management at WUB. The event was further honored by the presence of
Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor, World University of
Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Zaki Imam, Registrar, World
University of Bangladesh, as the Special Guest. Faculty members from the THM
department, along with the heads of other departments and students of the THM
department, were also present at the program. Their insightful speeches and
words of encouragement inspired both students and faculty members.
In his speech, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam
emphasized the importance of combining innovation with tradition in the
culinary arts. He stated, “The fusion of international techniques with our rich
local flavors reflects the essence of creativity in gastronomy. Events like
this not only enhance practical skills but also prepare students to excel in
the global hospitality industry.”
Prof. Zaki Imam highlighted the value of hands-on
learning experiences for students, saying, “The hospitality and tourism
industry is evolving rapidly, and creativity in food preparation is key to
staying ahead. Today, we will witness how our students skillfully combine
Western Pastry methods with local flavors to create unique and delightful
delicacies.”
Presiding over the event, Professor Nasimul Azim
expressed his pride in the students and faculty for their dedication. He
remarked, “Our goal is to equip students with practical knowledge and skills
that align with global industry trends while preserving the richness of our
local heritage. This event is a testament to
the creativity and passion of our students, and I encourage them to continue
innovating in the culinary arts.”
The event showcased the creativity and culinary
passion of THM students, who set up various stalls for guests to explore a wide array of pastries. Attendees had the opportunity to
test and enjoy the delightful fusion of Western pastry techniques and local
flavors, reflecting the students' dedication to pushing culinary boundaries.
