“Building a Health-Conscious Academic Community — Workshop on Sedentary Behavior and Lifestyle Modification, WUB”

The Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) successfully organized an interactive workshop titled “Sedentary Behavior and Lifestyle Modification” on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Founding Treasurer Morsheda Chowdhury Auditorium, WUB.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor of WUB, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar of WUB, as the Special Guest. The workshop was attended by esteemed faculty members from various departments, administrative officials, and a large number of enthusiastic students.

The session was conducted by Dr. S. M. Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering. In his engaging presentation, Dr. Hasan discussed the health risks associated with sedentary lifestyles, emphasizing how prolonged sitting and inactivity contribute to obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic disorders. He highlighted practical lifestyle modifications, including structured physical activity and behavioral adjustments, to promote overall health and well-being.

An interactive Question and Answer session followed, jointly led by Dr. Mahmudul Hasan and Dr. Fathema Tuz Zohra, where participants actively engaged in discussions, shared personal experiences, and explored practical solutions to common lifestyle-related challenges.

In his remarks, the Chief Guest appreciated the initiative of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering for organizing such a timely and health-focused workshop, encouraging students and faculty members to adopt healthier, more active lifestyles. The Special Guest also praised the organizers and speakers for their insightful and impactful contribution to the well-being of the WUB community.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective commitment to promoting health awareness and active living within the university community.
