WUB EEE Department Explores Frontiers of Nuclear Technology at Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) successfully organized a technical excursion to the Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) in Savar. The visit was organized under the auspices of the WUB IEEE Student Branch and the WUB EEE Club.

The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Mohammad Quamruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Head of the Department of EEE. The academic team included Dr. Md. Riyad Tanshen, Associate Professor; Dr. Md. Mohsin, Senior Assistant Professor; and Md. Sharif Uddin Shajib, Lecturer and Coordinator, Department of EEE.

The visit provided students with practical insights into nuclear safety, reactor operations, and industrial applications through a series of technical sessions conducted by distinguished officials of the Commission. At the Scientific Information Unit (SIU), Mr. Md. Shamsul Islam, Principal Librarian, introduced AERE's research activities, safety protocols, and the role of atomic energy in building a Smart Bangladesh.

At the Center for Research Reactor (CRR), Dr. Anisur Rahman, Head and Principal Scientific Officer (Nuclear Safety Division), explained the operation of the TRIGA Mark-II Research Reactor, nuclear safety, and the industrial applications of radioactive materials. Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossain of the Radioisotope Production Department highlighted the importance of radioisotopes in medicine and industry through a practical demonstration.

The programme concluded with a session by Dr. Md. Abdul Malek Soner, Chief Scientific Officer, who shared global perspectives on nuclear research and future energy technologies while appreciating the WUB delegation's active participation.
