WUB Organizes Career Counselling and Professional Development Session for Graduating Students

The WUB Career Counselling Center of World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organized a Career Counselling and Professional Development Session: From Graduation to Career Success on 19 October 2026 at the university campus. The session aimed to prepare graduating students for the competitive job market by strengthening their employability skills, professional competencies, and career readiness.

The session focused on establishing a dedicated Center for Professional Enhancement (CPE) to provide students with employability skills, career guidance, and personalized learning pathways aligned with industry demands. The proposed center aims to enhance graduates’ career readiness and improve their employment prospects through structured professional development initiatives.

The session was conducted by Mr. Md. Mamun Alam, Strategic HR Consultant and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of C-NET, who shared valuable insights into industry expectations, recruitment practices, professional development, and the essential competencies required for career success. Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, World University of Bangladesh, also joined the session as a human resource management expert and contributed his professional insights on career development and the importance of aligning academic learning with workplace requirements.

A key highlight of the programme was a mock interview session involving 20 students from various undergraduate programmes of the university. The practical exercise provided participants with an opportunity to experience a simulated recruitment process, improve their interview techniques, build confidence, and better understand employers’ expectations.

The initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, with a focus on Target 4.4, which emphasizes the development of relevant skills for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which promotes productive employment and decent work opportunities.

The session provided graduating students with practical knowledge, professional guidance, and greater confidence to navigate the job market. Through initiatives such as this, World University of Bangladesh seeks to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry needs, promote career-focused education, and prepare graduates to pursue successful and rewarding professional careers.
