World University of Bangladesh arranged an essay writing competition on “Role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the emergence of Bangladesh” on the eve of the centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. About one thousand (1000) competitors participated in the essay competition from all over Bangladesh and 15 were chosen for the award of prizes. The prize giving ceremony of the competition along with orientation of newly admitted students in the spring semester of the university was held on February 11, Tuesday 2020 at Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbag. Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, M.P, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest and Mr. Shykh Siraj, Prominent Journalist & Media Personnel, Director & Chief Editor, Channel I, was present as the Chief Speaker. Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Founder & Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh presided over of this ceremony, Morsheda Choudhury, Treasurer, World University of Bangladesh was the welcome speaker, Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Musfiq M. Choudhury, Chairperson (Acting), Board of Trustees were present as the special guests. Deans, all the heads of departments, Coordinators and newly admitted students were present in this function. The first 3 winners of the essay competition are (i) Md. Amzad Hossain from Chattogram (ii) Sabrin Samanta from Bogura and (iii) Md. Imroj Shahriar Shaik from Naogoan received certificates, crests and prize money. The function ended with a colorful cultural program and snacks.
