The Department of
Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) of the World University of Bangladesh
(WUB), in collaboration with the WUB THM Club, successfully organized a vibrant
and inspiring Freshers’ Reception and
Cultural Program for Fall 2025 on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the WUB
THM Lab. The day-long celebration warmly welcomed the new batch under the
slogan “Embarking on a Journey of Excellence!”
The event was
graced by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam,
Honourable Pro Vice-Chancellor of WUB, as the Chief Guest, and Professor M. Moqbul Hossain,
Controller of Examinations, as the Special Guest. The program was presided over
by Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim,
Head and Director of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Distinguished
guests included A.N.M. Ahsan Thouhid,
Joint Registrar; Md. Kamrul Hossain,
Joint Registrar; and Mohammed Shaiful
Hannan, Joint Controller of Examinations, along with several senior
administrative officers and faculty members from WUB.
In his address, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam
encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, innovation, and
professionalism as they begin their university journey. Professor M. Moqbul Hossain highlighted the importance of
discipline, ethics, and hard work, urging students to uphold integrity and
dedication in their careers within the tourism and hospitality industry.
Assistant Professor Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Moderator of the WUB THM Club, along with other faculty members,
delivered motivational speeches to welcome the newcomers and guide them toward
academic and professional success.
Expressing
gratitude on behalf of the organizing committee, Ms. Halima Akter Sathi, President of the WUB THM Club, thanked all
guests, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and
contribution to the program’s success.
The celebration
featured a colorful cultural segment
with captivating performances by THM students, including music, dance, and
drama, which filled the venue with joy and excitement.
A special
highlight of the event was a lavish
lunch prepared and served by THM students gaining professional
experience in reputed hotels. Hosted in the department’s training restaurant,
the meal was elegantly presented by students currently employed part-time in
the Food and Beverage Service departments of five-star hotels across
Bangladesh, reflecting the department’s strong focus on practical,
industry-based learning.
The program
concluded with lively interactions among students, faculty members, and guests,
celebrating unity, creativity, and academic excellence.
