WUB Hosts 1st Round of “Royal-e-Jaika International Culinary Competition 2026”

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) successfully hosted the 1st Round Internal Selection Process of the “Royal-e-Jaika International Culinary Competition 2026” on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the WUB THM Lab.

This prestigious event marked a significant milestone for WUB’s aspiring chefs, opening a pathway for outstanding students to represent the university on the international stage at The Assam Royal Global University, India, the host institution of the global competition.

The competition was led by the distinguished Chief Judge, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh. The program was further enriched by the presence of A.N.M. Ahsan Thouhid, Joint Registrar of WUB, as Special Guest. Their guidance and encouragement provided inspiration and academic direction to the participants.

Renowned industry professionals from Best Western PlusMd. Mehidi Hasan and Md. Wasib Sabab Aoyon—served as External Judges, offering expert evaluations aligned with international culinary standards and sharing valuable professional insights with the students.

The WUB THM Lab transformed into a vibrant arena of creativity, passion, and professional excellence as 15 talented students showcased their culinary skills in a competitive and motivating environment. Their performances reflected WUB’s strong commitment to experiential learning, industry engagement, and global exposure.

The event was organized under the guidance and leadership of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, headed by Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim, Head & Director, and coordinated by Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Assistant Professor & Academic Coordinator. Significant contributions were also made by the department’s faculty members—Sara Murtaza, Lecturer; Md. Morsalin, Lecturer; and Pulak Sarker, Senior Lecturer—whose dedication ensured the successful execution of the program.

A massive round of applause is extended to the dedicated student organizing team led by Saidul, Mir, Tasik, Sojib, Maruf, Noyon, Sunny, Rayan, Shawn, Nabid, and Aidid, along with many others, for their tireless efforts and exemplary teamwork. Their commitment, coordination, and professionalism played a pivotal role in making the event a grand success and reflect the strong leadership culture fostered within the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
