Mechanical Club, Department of Mechanical Engineering, World
University of Bangladesh, organized a seminar titled “Research
Ignition Seminar: From Curiosity to Research” on 9 September
2026, aiming to inspire students to develop research-oriented
thinking and encourage them to transform their curiosity into meaningful
academic and innovative pursuits. The seminar was held at the Founding
Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium of World University of
Bangladesh.
Mohammed
Hedayet Ullah Bhuiyan, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical
Engineering, World University of Bangladesh, delivered
the keynote address, sharing valuable insights into research, innovation, and
the importance of developing curiosity and critical thinking among students.
His engaging presentation encouraged students to explore new ideas, identify
research problems, and take their first steps toward academic research.
The program
was graced by Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor,
as the Chief
Guest. Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar; Professor Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam,
Dean of Academic Affairs and Research; and Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, Director
of Research and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, attended the
seminar as Special
Guests and shared their valuable perspectives on research, innovation,
and the opportunities and challenges associated with pursuing research in the
academic and professional spheres. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md.
Mizanur Rahman, who guided the seminar and highlighted the
importance of building a strong research culture among university students.
The seminar concluded with a renewed sense of enthusiasm among the
participants, empowering aspiring researchers to transform their curiosity into
knowledge, innovation, and impactful research.
