Seminar at World University of Bangladesh Highlights Importance of Empowering Women in Cyber Security

Dhaka, Bangladesh - In a bid to foster a safer online environment and empower women in the field of Cyber Security, the Master's in Cyber Security program at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in World University of Bangladesh (WUB) hosted a seminar titled "Empowering Women in Cyber Security: Leading the Way to a Safer Online World" on May 18th, 2024.

The seminar, held at the prestigious Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium, distinguished guests including Professor Dr. Musfiq Mannan Choudhury, Commissioner, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mrs. Morsheda Choudhury, Founding Treasurer of WUB, honored the event as the Guest of Honor.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Professor Dr. Musfiq Mannan Choudhury shed light on the critical role played by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) in regulating cyberspace affairs and ensuring the cyber safety of Bangladesh.

A pivotal moment of the seminar was the keynote address delivered by Superintendent of Police Mahfuza Liza, representing Bangladesh Police. Ms. Liza presented compelling case studies illustrating incidents of bullying, harassment, and blackmailing that occurred within cyberspace. She outlined essential guidelines for victims to seek support from law enforcement agencies in such cases, while also emphasizing proactive measures to ensure online safety for all.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at WUB took the opportunity to recognize the tireless efforts of Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury in maintaining a secure environment for female students and employees on campus. Mrs. Choudhury was honored with a Token of Appreciation in acknowledgment of her dedication.

The seminar concluded with gratitude expressed by Kazi Hassan Robin, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at WUB, who extended thanks to all guests, stakeholders, and participants for their invaluable contributions to the event.
