The
Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM), World University of
Bangladesh in collaboration with the WUB Tourism and Hospitality Club,
successfully organized a vibrant Hands-On Practical Session on Food Production,
followed by a warm and festive Fresher’s Reception – Summer 2025 on 31st May
2025. The event began at 12:00 PM in the WUB THM Lab and brought together
faculty members, university officials, and students in a celebration of
experiential learning and community spirit.
The event was
honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro Vice-Chancellor of
WUB, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his keynote speech, he highlighted the
importance of practical education and professional grooming in shaping the
future leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry.
Presiding
over the program, Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim, Director of the
Department of THM, reaffirmed the department’s dedication to providing
world-class experiential education and nurturing students into competent,
industry-ready professionals.
The event was
further dignified by the presence of several special guests from the World
University of Bangladesh, including Prof. Zaki Imam, Registrar; Professor M.
Moqbul Hossain, Controller of Examinations; Md. Kamrul Hossain, Joint
Registrar; and A.N.M. Ahsan Thouhid, Joint Registrar.
Also in
attendance was Susankar Kumar Roy, Senior Assistant Registrar,WUB and Liaison
Officer of the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, whose
support reflected the university’s strong commitment to student-focused
initiatives.
A highlight
of the event was the lively cultural segment, where senior students extended a
heartfelt welcome to the new batch through flowers, musical performances, and
dance—fostering a sense of camaraderie, belonging, and celebration.
The hands-on
food production session offered students an invaluable opportunity to practice
culinary techniques under expert guidance, effectively bridging the gap between
classroom theory and real-world application.
The program
concluded with closing remarks from Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim, who not only
reiterated the department’s mission of academic excellence and real-world
learning but also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the students for their
dedication and teamwork in making the event a resounding success.
